Furthermore, the BDA has taken proactive measures to prevent the sale of plots within these unauthorised layouts by reaching out to the sub-registrar’s office. The authority has formally requested the sub-registrar not to register any properties originating from the aforementioned layouts, thereby thwarting any attempts to legitimise transactions related to illegal constructions.

This decisive action by the BDA underscores its unwavering commitment to upholding urban planning standards and safeguarding the interests of residents and property buyers in Bangalore. By publicly releasing the list of illegal layouts and issuing a stern warning, the BDA aims to deter unauthorised development activities and promote transparency in the real estate sector.

The BDA has urged citizens to verify the legality of layouts before making any property investments and to exercise due diligence in conducting thorough checks. Additionally, the authority has called upon residents to report any instances of unauthorised construction or layout development, thereby facilitating prompt action against violators.

What Happened?

The Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) has been actively involved in cracking down on illegal layouts and unauthorised constructions in Bangalore. Recently, BDA officials halted the construction of an illegal layout near White Rose Layout in Whitefield. This action was taken after residents raised concerns about the development activities, which included earthwork, tree felling, and laying of underground drainage pipes without BDA approval. The layout in question was being developed without the necessary permissions and was marketed by developers illicitly

In another case, the BDA demolished 16 illegal buildings within the Dr Shivaram Karanth Layout, as these structures had been erected without proper approvals. This is part of a larger effort by the BDA to remove around 800 such illegal constructions within the layout. The authority uses historical satellite imagery to identify unapproved developments that have emerged over time
