A house as grand as the man himself, the phrase ‘living large’ got a new meaning when Antilia's house came with her 27 floors decked in grandiose. The skyscraper was built to withstand an earthquake of magnitude 8.0 on the Richter scale. Even though it is a 27-floor building, its estimated height is that of a 60-story building owing to its height and massive high ceilings; each floor is said to be as tall as a 2-story building.

It is the tallest house owned by a single family in the world, standing at 173 metres, around 568 feet. But that point is constantly argued as Antilia also houses around 600 staff members. These staff members, including bodyguards, assistants, and other security personnel, have a huge room for relaxation.

In the background of the living room, a staircase climbs to a higher level of the house or building. Other armchairs and a coffee table are also present but are out of focus. The room is further decorated with plants and potted greenery, adding to the place's luxury and ambience. Finally, the walls are light beige or cream, which again complements the furniture.

A large and fancy crystal chandelier adorns the ceiling and adds to the already present feeling of luxury. A wrought iron decorative railing staircase leads into the second storey. Multiple seating areas have comfortable, plush sofas and armchairs that are richly toned and complement the remaining colour scheme.

In a gold and ochre colour palette, a large wall-mounted painting or tapestry covers a significant Mukesh Ambani house area. The floors are covered with polished marble or stone tiles in a pattern that blends gold, beige and darker, rich tones. Decorative accents and mouldings further enhance the classical architectural style.

When Was Antilia, Mukesh Ambani’s House, Constructed?

Beginning in 2006, the Ambani residence in Antilia underwent intense development that lasted for seven years until 2010. The Ambani family didn't move in until the end of September 2011, which fueled rumours that the mansion had Vastu-related problems.

Who Designed Antilia? Architecture and Engineering Behind the Landmark

Antilia Mumbai is not just one of the many luxury homes but also a remarkable example of modern architecture and engineering. Designed by the Chicago-based architecture firm Perkins & Will, its interiors were created by Hirsch Bedner Associates (HBA), while Leighton Contractors managed the construction. The structure was engineered by Buro Happold and is designed to withstand earthquakes up to magnitude 8 on the Richter scale, combining safety, innovation, and luxury in a single iconic residence.

Then Mukesh Ambani House Land and Vastu Shastra Controversy

Most of us are very religious and believe in the almighty above for our well-being more than riches and fame. The same is true for the Ambani house floors. There was even some controversy in 2011 as to why Mukesh Ambani’s family hadn’t moved out of their Sea Wind apartment and moved into Antilia. The most popular reason cited in news reports was that the property was not completely compliant with the ancient Indian architectural doctrine of the Vastu or the Vastu Shastra.

As great believers in the Vastu Shastra for home, they moved into Antilia in 2011 only after the complete pujas were done to remove Vastu defects or Vastu Doshas in the home with a team of about 50 pandits, led by their family priest, over 10 days. As we can see today, the family is still thriving in a happy home. Not just that, India’s second richest man has also built a second home for his family in a 300-acre land in Buckinghamshire.

Interesting Facts About Mukesh Ambani's House

Antilia is not just a luxury home but a masterpiece of architecture and engineering. From unique amenities to advanced technology, this iconic residence offers several features that make it truly extraordinary.

  • Massive Property Size: The Antilia house area in gaj is approximately 44,444 gaj (around 400,000 sq. ft.), making it one of India's largest private residences.
  • Babylon-Inspired Hanging Gardens: The house features beautiful hanging gardens that improve air quality, reduce heat, and add greenery while giving the building a unique architectural look.
  • Grand Triple-Height Lobby: Antilia welcomes guests with a spectacular triple-height lobby featuring premium marble, crystal chandeliers, elegant artwork, and luxurious interiors.
  • Snow Room and Air Purification: The mansion has a dedicated snow room with artificial snowfall and an advanced air purification system that helps maintain fresh indoor air.
  • Earthquake-Resistant Engineering: Antilia is designed to withstand earthquakes of up to magnitude 8, making it one of the safest high-rise private homes in the world.
  • Dedicated Temple Floor: A separate temple floor provides a peaceful space for daily prayers, religious ceremonies, and family rituals, reflecting the Ambani family's spiritual beliefs.

Mukesh Ambani’s Stoke Park Estate

For £57 million in April 2021, Mukesh Ambani acquired the renowned Stoke Park estate, which had a five-star hotel and one of Europe's best golf courses (Rs 592 crore).

Reliance Industrial Investments and Holdings Ltd (RIIHL) bought the 300-acre Georgian country club and opulent golf resort in Buckinghamshire, London, primarily as a "trophy asset" to glam up RIL's global portfolio and expand RIIHL's consumer and hotel footprint.

RIL promised at the time of the purchase that the mansion would remain a members-only club and that the business was considering improving the opulent and sporty amenities on the historic site.

Following the purchase, RIL stated that "RIIHL will look to develop the sports and leisure facilities at this heritage location while fully complying with the planning standards and local legislation."

As the estate is a Grade I listed property, any significant alterations require the necessary heritage and planning approvals. Reports claiming the Ambani family purchased the estate because of the pandemic or planned to make it their primary residence in the UK have never been officially confirmed.

Mukesh Ambani’s Stoke Park Estate History

The King family, owners of International Hospitals Group (IHG), sold the historic Stoke Park Estate to Reliance Industries in 2021. The King family had owned and managed the estate since 1988, while Stoke Park itself had operated as Britain's first country club since 1908, having originally served as a private residence. The estate has a rich heritage dating back centuries and is famous for appearing in Hollywood films, including the James Bond classics Goldfinger (1964) and Tomorrow Never Dies (1997).

The 27-hole golf course at Stoke Park, which is adjacent to London's Heathrow airport, continues to be the property's focal point. You can see Windsor Castle from the Stoke Poges Golf Club, which Harry Shapland Colt designed in 1908.

The luxurious amenities of Stoke Park include 49 opulent guestrooms and suites, 13 tennis courts, and 14 acres of private gardens. These areas include hunting, riding, and sport fishing. According to reports, the Ambanis added a temple and a state-of-the-art medical facility to the estate.

The Stoke Park clubhouse, a Palladian palace constructed in 1789, is one of 5,000 structures in the UK with Grade-I listed historical designation.
