Somwar Peth is located near the main railway station in Pune city. It’s a popularity is because of its proximity to the main city and the railway station. Its history goes back to the year 1625, this area was developed by a minister of Maharaj Shahaji Raje Bhosale - Rango Bapuji Dhadphale. Since it’s existence, this area has seen raids and redevelopment and is now a strong community. Localities such as Kasba Peth, Shaniwar Peth and Raviwar Peth are its closest neighbours. This area is very well connected to other areas in Pune. Somwar Peth is about 10 mins away from the main Pune railway station and about 30 mins away from the Pune International Airport. The Somwar Peth bus depot is about 2 kms away and have busses that provide prompt local and inter-city buses. Being one of the older localities in Pune, the schools in Somwar Peth are well reputed, few of them are Saraswati Vidyalaya Union Primary School, Balvikas Shikshan Sanstha Prathmik Shala, Abbasaheb Atre high School, Saraswati Vidyalaya Union High School & Junior College to name a few. When it comes to hospitals, the most famous hospital in Pune can be found here - King Edward Memorial Hospital better known as KME hospital. This is Pune’s largest non-government hospital and provides exceptional care to all. The landmark Apollo Theatre is also found in Somwar Peth. It has plenty to offer its residents in terms of good homes, schools and hospitals but there is also scope for improvement in terms of infrastructure. Because of its popularity, there is a growing demand for houses, if you do get a home here, you’ll be very fortunate.
