Tamil Nadu offers three months’ extension on payment of property tax

April 1, 2020: Amidst the corona virus lockdown, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister K. Palaniswami extended timeline for making due payments for multiple loans and other payments by a quarter.

Chennai: in order to provide relief amidst the Covid-19 lockdown, TN Chief Minister Palaniswami mentioned in his address that the payment of property tax, water charges, farm loan instalments to cooperatives, housing loan instalments to cooperatives, Tamil Nadu Housing Board, loan instalments to fishery and handloom cooperatives can be deferred by 3 months.

The government has also offered extension of timeline for loan repayments to Tamil Nadu Industrial Investment Corporation (TIIC) and soft loans availed from State Industries Promotion Corporation of Tamil Nadu Ltd (SIPCOT) and payment of maintenance expenses to units operating in SIPCOT industrial estates.

According to Palaniswami, a separate fund of INR 200 crore will be activated for funding the urgent requirements for running of micro, small and medium sized units.

the extension also includes the period of renewal of driving licences and obtaining fitness certificates for vehicles till June 30, 2020.
