Admission Process & Application

To get admission to IIT Madras, there are two ways: Regular Entry & JEE-based entry. Below is the detailed information about the process:

For Regular Entry:

All interested candidates must complete the form on the official website, upload their documents, and pay the application fee.
- The application fee for the General category is ₹6000
- For SC/ST/PwD is ₹300
- For SC/ST, it is ₹1500
Students must undergo the four-week qualifier process, including access to foundation subjects like English, Math, statistics, and computation thinking courses.
Under the qualifier round, candidates need to complete weekly assignments. Those who achieve the minimum qualifier marks, 40% for the general category and 30% for other backward categories, can be eligible.
Qualified students will get a hall ticket for the qualifier exam, and passing the exam is mandatory.
Successful candidates will receive the admission letter, which is valid for six terms (approx 2 years)

JEE- Based Entry:

Candidates qualified for the JEE Advanced can directly register for the course and start the program.
Registration fee is the same as above for students
Registered students must take Quiz 1 and Quiz 2 in the first semester. If they fail to do so, their admission will be cancelled.
