Chanderlok is a residential locality in Shahdara, North-East Delhi, developed as a planned housing scheme under the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) in the early 1990s. The area comprises multiple sectors and blocks arranged in a grid pattern, serving as a middle-income to upper-middle-income neighbourhood. Located in the Shahdara assembly constituency, Chanderlok benefits from proximity to the Yamuna riverfront and major arterial roads including GT Road and the Shahdara Bypass. The locality is predominantly inhabited by salaried professionals, small business owners and established families who value accessibility to both North and Central Delhi. Chanderlok is anchored by educational institutions including Delhi Public School Shahdara, government schools, and clinics, with easy access to Shahdara market for daily retail needs. The pincode of Chanderlok Shahdara New Delhi, Delhi is 110093. The area is characterised by tree-lined streets, low-rise apartment blocks, and a tight-knit community feel, though traffic congestion on connecting roads remains a persistent challenge.
Water supply is a constant headache in this area. You get line water only for two hours in the morning and pressure is so low... daily we have to run motor pumps just to fill tanks.
Schools and coaching centers are all around Chanderlok, which keeps the day peaceful for kids walking home. Only problem is the street lights near the main park aren't working properly nowadays.
Traffic near Shahdara flyover signal slows down everything in peak hours. If you take the metro it is totally sorted, but driving a car here everyday will test your patience for sure.
Customer footfall in the market is good, but stock delivery vans struggle to enter the lane because of tight roads. Overloaded electricity wires hanging everywhere also look risky IMO.
Love coming here for street food, especially the chaat shops in the local market. Parking a car is a nightmare NGL, best to come by e-rickshaw from the metro station.
Rental demand in this block stays high whole year due to proximity to the red line metro. Properties get occupied quickly and basic market needs are all covered within walking distance.
Grocery shops and pharmacies are everywhere so daily stuff is never an issue. Streets are just too packed with parked vehicles now, so walking peacefully anywhere in the evening is nearly impossible.
Garbage is just left on the roadside near the main market corner and smells terrible. Footpaths are broken or occupied by shop vendors, so elderly people have to walk carefully on the main road itself.
Too much noise from honking bikes all day long in these narrow lanes. PG food options are okayish nearby, but drains get clogged immediately whenever it rains heavily in this colony.

Getting around from here is super easy because Mansarovar Park metro station is practically right next door. The inner lanes are quite narrow though so auto wallahs charge extra inside, but rent is decent for Delhi standards.
