The area is not too crowded like central Chennai, but everything’s available. The OMR stretch makes commuting easy, though traffic in peak hours is still a pain. Lot of PGs and flats here, so rents are not too high. I like the nearby gyms and cafes, especially on weekends.

Kalavakkam was suggested by my broker. I liked how affordable properties still are. Connectivity through OMR is a plus. Rents are rising gradually. It’s suitable for long-term investment.

I own a flat here and have had IT tenants mostly. The rental demand is steady, but sometimes finding reliable tenants takes time. Roads inside the area need better maintenance. During rain, drainage could be better.

Kalavakkam has basic things around, but if you want nightlife or proper shopping, you’ll need to drive a bit. Public transport is okay, buses mostly, no metro yet. Rent is decent for the size of houses. Sometimes roads get patchy during rains.

It is a calm and quiet neighbourhood. My house is on one of the inner lanes, very peaceful. Shops, clinics, even a couple of banks are all nearby. Commuting is fine by car or bike. I feel the area is safe, and the community is helpful.
