About Santacruz East

Santa Cruz got its name from the Portuguese meaning "Holy Cross." There used to be a Santa Cruz church, but the Marathas destroyed it during their conquest. The railways started operating in 1888; the local station was named after the Holy Cross. And that's how Santacruz, as a neighbourhood, came to be. Later, a military airfield called the British Government set up RAF Santacruz during World War II. After India's Independence, the airfield became Santa Cruz Airport, now the city's main airport. Over time, Santacruz East, Mumbai, developed into a well-established area with a mix of homes and businesses.

I love the food scene here. From street chaats to Irani cafes, there’s so much variety. That’s actually why I chose to stay here!

The roads could be better maintained in some parts, but the convenience of this place really makes up for it. Everything I need is just around the corner.

I walk to work from my place in Santacruz East. That’s the best part. Also, medical stores and clinics are always within reach.

It’s not the cheapest area to live in, but the location is top-notch. Close to Bandra, airport, and offices in BKC. Worth it for me.

One of the best things here is connectivity—train, auto, metro, highway—everything’s right here. Great for someone like me who travels across town for work.
