Since I have encountered this problem multiple times, I must inform you that the main reason for an unexpected increase in your electricity bill is that your air conditioner is working harder than usual to maintain the same level of cooling. 1. Dirty coils:

   Dust accumulation limits cooling effectiveness by obstructing airflow. So, to attain the desired temperature, your air conditioner must run longer cycles, which increases power consumption.

2. Extremely low temperature settings:

   The compressor must run constantly when your air conditioner is set to 18 to 20°C. Energy consumption can rise dramatically even with a 1°C drop.

3. Bad room insulation:

   Your air conditioner will continue to operate and use more electricity if cool air escapes through windows, doors, or gaps.

4. Wrong AC size

   A large air conditioner unit regularly switches on and off. However, an undersized one runs continuously, wasting electricity.

5. Absence of regular servicing:

   Over time, low refrigerant, worn-out components, or clogged ducts cause efficiency to decline and power consumption to rise.
