How do you clean soap scum off glass shower doors?

My sister works at a prestigious hotel (I won’t name it here) in Mumbai as a manager. She overlooks everything there is to basically ensure that guests are at comfort and enjoy their stay. One of the crucial aspects that she talks about is the cleaning and maintenance of washrooms. Surprisingly, that’s where most hotels lack but at theirs, it is the topmost priority to maintain everything properly. Since I recently got glass shower doors in my bathroom, I wanted to know about the best way to clean glass shower doors with soap scum. I called her up for advise and she shared a few tips. I can list them down for you here.

Glass door was a bad decision honestly, in my opinion, because it’s just too high maintenance. For someone like me who is swamped with work, I can’t dedicate hours scrubbing off dirt. But now that we are there, I have no choices. 

My sister suggested that I should adopt a habit of wiping the glass shower doors after using the shower. She said that it is the best way to not let anything stick to the glass. So, new rules in the house for everyone now.

Apart from this, she shared an easy way to clean glass doors with soap scum. Here’s what I needed:

• Dish soap

• Water

• A spray bottle

• Microfibre cloth

I added a couple of drops of dish soap and 1 glass of water in the spray bottle. After shaking it vigorously, I sprayed the solution on the glass door and let it sit for 2 minutes. Later, I took the micro fibre cloth and wiped off the mix.

Unfortunately, my sister didn’t tell me that I had to wipe the glass door clean again with a washed cloth with no fibre residue. I ended up having lines on my glass door. It was a few hours later that I realised my mistake and took a clean cloth to finish the maintenance of that glass door.
