What is meant by Door to Door Collection of Municipal Solid Waste?

Solid waste refers to an unwanted solid product that is discarded by society. They are usually from our daily products like toys, furniture, appliances, and more. Several states have initiated door to door collection of municipal solid waste to ensure it does not harm the environment. For example, suppose you have discarded a plastic toy and thrown it down the drain. It might block the passage of water. The government collects them from houses so that they can dispose of them in the right place without harming the environment. There are several processes for disposing of such waste. Let me share a few here.

How is municipal waste collection done?

In municipal areas, vans, trucks, or garbage vehicles come daily or on alternate days to collect dry waste, wet waste, and solid waste as well. The best part is that people do not have to go a long way to dispose of their garbage, nor do they need to be afraid of living in an unhygienic environment. 

They can simply let the garbage cleaners collect their waste and dispose of it in the right place. This will not only keep the houses clean but also keep the environment from getting dirty. It is a great initiative of the government for the storage, collection, and transportation of municipal solid waste. These are yet to develop in rural areas but overall, this practice is followed in most of the cities nowadays.

• Solid waste open burning (not quite in practice nowadays)

• Sea dumping process (carried in coastal cities specifically)

• Disposal by Ploughing into the fields
