How to Clean Wood Furniture?

Hi Ajit, I used tea bags for cleaning wooden furniture with old polish at my house two weeks ago. So, I can definitely give you this method, which works well to clean wood furniture. 

How do you Clean Wood Furniture?

1. Take two tea bags and place them in a bowl of boiling water. 

2. Wait till the tea cools down to room temperature.

3. Then, use a soft cloth and dip it in the tea bowl. 

4. Wring it well till you see the cloth is damp and not dripping with tea. 

5. Wash the wooden furniture by wiping the cloth well over the surface. 

The tannic acid which is present in tea helps bring out the shine of the wood.

How can I Clean Wood Furniture using Homemade Polish?

I’ve also made homemade polis to keep my furniture clean. So, I’ll share the recipe with you here.

1. Mix 1 cup of olive oil and ¼ cup of white vinegar. 

2. Pour the mixture on a soft cloth and use it to clean by wiping it well over the wood grain.

3. Buff the surface till it is shiny.

But there are certain things that we always must know about cleaning especially when it comes to wooden furniture. • Use lint-free, non-abrasive cloth to wipe off the dirt from surface

• Use mild liquid cleaning agents

• Apply wood wax to protect the polish from wearing off from new wooden furniture

• If your wooden furniture is old, apply polish at home or call experts

• Don’t scratch the surface of wooden furniture

• Don’t use hard cleaning products to prevent damage to the wood

• Don’t smear oil as a DIY ingredient to clean the wooden furniture, it will attract dust.

If you have painted wood, this is how you must clean it:

• Clean the surface using a brush 

• Pat the surface with a damp cloth

• Use sponge to get rid of marks and smudges

If you have oiled wooden furniture, here is what you need to do:

• Don’t use wood wax

• Use damp cloth and dab on tough stains

• For smudges, use baking soda paste and water as treatment

If you have polished wooden furniture, this is for you:

• Apply paste wax to retain shine

• Use a cloth soaked in tea for sometime to wipe off dust from the surface of the wood

• Use spray polish instead of liquid polish
