You can apply for EWS certificate online in Delhi by visiting the official website of e-district GNCT.  This is the complete process that you need to follow:

  • Create or login to Edistrict website of Delhi at the given link:

  • After logging in you can go to e-services tab

  • Click on apply for Income certificate 

  • An application form will appear on your screen. Fill details like personal details, family details, income details and upload the documents as required

  • Pay the application fee and submit the form

  • You will get an acknowledgement number. Save it for future reference.

  • You can come back and track the status of your application by entering the acknowledgment number received.

  • Once your application is approved, you will be able to login and download digitally signed income certificate which is also known as EWS certificate from this portal itself.

When I filled the application I was asked to submit my ID proof, income certificate, and a residential address proof. So these were the EWS certificate documents required from me. I uploaded the digitally signed documents so there was no need for self attestation as well.

Hello My relative in Delhi was denied the renewal of EWS certificate on the ground that he doesn't own any property, neither his own nor ancestral nor inherited. Was this a reasonable denial or was the officer in-charge just making excuses to not go ahead with the renewal? If it actually is a necessary requirement for the EWS certificate, then it doesn't make any sense nor seem fair at all...
