What insurance do you need when renting a house?

I have been staying in a rented house for the past 3 years. As someone who rents a home, I understand the main concern of all renters. To protect yourself and your belongings in case of accidents and unforeseen events. I will share what insurance do you need when renting a house.

There are different types of insurance available for renters in India ie renters insurance and liability insurance.

This type of insurance provides coverage for your personal property in case of theft, fire, or other covered perils. This includes furniture, electronics, and other belongings.For example, if you rent an apartment and someone breaks in and steals your laptop and TV, renters insurance would cover the cost of replacing your personal items.

This type of insurance provides protection in case you are found legally liable for causing damage to your rental unit or for causing injury to someone else. Cost of damages and legal expenses is covered, let me give an example.If your flatmate accidentally knocks over a vase and it breaks, liability insurance would cover the cost of replacing the vase.

A few other types of insurance to consider are : 

• Home insurance

• Personal accident insurance

• Health insurance
