We’ve been living in a 2 BHK for the last ten years and it has been some time since we painted the house in new colours. So, we decided to finally paint the house. But, we were confused between acrylic paint vs enamel paint, which would be better.
So, I searched for the differences which would help in understanding the better paint type. So, let me share them with you.
What is the Difference Between Acrylic Paint and Enamel Paint?
Here are some of the key differences between acrylic and enamel paints.
Acrylic Paint | Enamel Paint |
The acrylic paint has a matte paint finish. |
The enamel paint has a glossy finish. |
The acrylic paint retains its colour over time. |
On the other hand, enamel paint turns yellow eventually. |
The acrylic paint is best suited for the interiors of the house. |
The enamel paint works best for painting the exteriors of the house. |
The time taken by acrylic paint to dry is lower. |
Enamel paints take a longer time to dry. |
The acrylic paint is water-based paint. |
Enamel paints are oil-based. |
So, if you compare the differences here, acrylic paint seems like a better option. However, you need to see your priorities and requirements when considering the paint type.
Since we were painting the interiors, we went with acrylic. However, if you are painting the exterior, I would say enamel is the way to go.
This is all about the difference between acrylic and enamel paint. I hope this helps.
