Summary
To clean sticky kitchen cabinets, first dust or vacuum them with a soft brush. Use warm water with mild dish soap for painted or laminated cabinets, or suitable wood cleaner for natural wood. Wipe with one towel, rinse with another, and dry with a microfiber cloth. For stubborn grease, gently scrub affected areas and clean corners, grooves, and handles.

Recently, I noticed that my kitchen cabinets had started feeling sticky and greasy, especially around the stove. I wanted an easy way to clean them, so I watched a YouTube video that explained a simple cleaning method. I tried the steps, and they worked well, so I’m sharing the process with you.

How Do I Clean Sticky Kitchen Cabinets?

  • Start by dusting or vacuuming the cabinets before using any liquid cleaner. This removes loose dust and debris and prevents them from turning into a sticky mess when mixed with water.

    • If you use a vacuum, choose a soft-bristle brush attachment to avoid damaging the cabinet surface. Start from the top and work downward.

  • Next, for painted or laminated cabinets, mix a few drops of dish soap with warm water.

    • For natural wood cabinets, the video suggests using a small amount of Murphy’s Oil Soap with warm water.

    • Avoid using too much cleaner because it can leave a residue and make the surface sticky again.

  • Use three towels for cleaning. Take the first towel, dip it into the cleaning solution, and wipe the cabinet. Use the second towel with plain water to rinse away the cleaner.

  • Then, use a clean, dry microfiber towel to dry and buff the surface without leaving streaks. Always work from the top to the bottom.

  • For areas that remain sticky, use a soft-bristle brush or a gentle scrubber after softening it with warm water. Cabinets near the stove may need to be cleaned more than once because they collect more grease and grime.

  • Use a toothbrush to clean cabinet grooves, ledges, corners, handles, and other areas where grease and dirt collect. Pay extra attention to frequently touched areas.

  • Finally, make sure the cabinets are completely dry. For white cabinets, wiping areas near the stove regularly can help prevent grease buildup and discoloration.

I hope you now know how to clean sticky kitchen cabinets.
