To clean a kitchen hood filter with baking soda, soak it in very hot water with baking soda and dish soap for 15 to 30 minutes. Then gently clean, rinse, and allow it to dry completely. Recently, I noticed my kitchen hood filter had become sticky and covered with grease. I first tried wiping it with a cloth, but the thick grease was still stuck. So, I asked my friend, who works for a cleaning service company, about how to clean kitchen hood filter with baking soda.

She shared an amazing hack, which I shared below. But before that, let me tell you here is what you will need for that:

  • Boiling water

  • A large bucket

  • 1/4 to 1/2 cup baking soda

  • 1 to 2 tablespoons dish soap

  • A soft nylon brush or old toothbrush

How can I Clean a Kitchen Hood Filter with Baking Soda?

  • Switch off the kitchen hood. Use the tab to push and slide the metal filter. Loosen the clips or screws gently.

  • Fill a washbasin or bucket with extremely hot or boiling water.

  • Gradually add 1/2 cup baking soda and 1 to 2 tablespoons dish soap. Shake slowly, as the mixture may bubble.

  • Put the filter fully into the water. Leave it for 15 to 30 minutes. This releases the stubborn, sticky grease that is trapped inside the filter.

  • Remove the filter and carefully scrub it with a soft brush or an old toothbrush.

  • Clean minor cracks and corners where grease could hide.

  • Wash the filter with clean, warm water until all soap, baking soda, and dust are removed.

  • Finally, place the filter where air may reach it and allow it to dry completely. Only put it back into the kitchen hood once it has completely dried.

You must clean the filter regularly, especially if you cook oily or fried food often. I hope my answer is helpful to you.
