Summary
To clean kitchen floor grout, first brush the dry grout lines to remove loose dirt. Apply a paste of baking soda and water, then spray white vinegar and wait 5–10 minutes. Scrub the grout with a brush or toothbrush, focusing on stained areas. Rinse thoroughly with warm water, remove all residue, and dry the floor completely with a clean cloth.

Last week, I cleaned the grout lines on my kitchen floor because they had collected dirt and looked dark. Below, I have shared the step-by-step process to give you a better understanding of how to clean grout on kitchen floor.

  • First, make sure the floor is dry. Start by using a grout brush or an old toothbrush to brush the grout lines. This will remove loose dirt, dust, and food particles from the surface.

  • Next, make a simple baking soda paste. Mix baking soda with a small amount of water until it becomes a thick paste. Apply this paste directly to the dirty grout lines.

  • After applying the paste, spray some white vinegar over it. The mixture will bubble and help loosen the dirt and grime stuck in the grout. Leave it for about five to ten minutes.

  • Then, take your grout brush or an old toothbrush and scrub the grout properly. Focus more on dark or stained areas. You may need to scrub a little longer if the dirt has been there for a long time.

  • After scrubbing, rinse the floor well with warm water. Make sure you remove all the baking soda, vinegar, and loosened dirt.

  • Finally, wipe the floor with a clean, dry cloth and allow it to dry completely.

For Deeper Grout Stains and Stubborn Dirt
  • For deeper stains, you can use hydrogen peroxide or a tile cleaner made for removing stains and discolouration. Always follow the product instructions before using it.

  • You can also use a steam cleaner for stubborn grout stains. It uses steam to loosen dirt and can help clean and sanitise the grout without using strong chemicals.

So, to clean floor tile grout, you can follow the same basic steps. Just make sure the grout is dry before applying any cleaning solution and rinse the floor properly after scrubbing.
