Cleaning gloss kitchen cabinets starts by removing loose dust and dirt with a microfibre cloth. Wipe surfaces gently with warm water, avoiding excess moisture. For grease and fingerprints, use mild washing-up liquid diluted in water. Remove soap residue with a clean damp cloth, then dry and buff with a microfibre cloth. Finally, check for streaks and water spots.

Last week, I noticed that my kitchen cabinets had become very dirty, so I decided to clean them properly. I checked some cleaning methods online and followed the steps. The process worked well, so I have shared the same steps below to help you clean your gloss kitchen cabinets.

  • Start by removing loose dust, dirt, and food particles from the surface.

    • Use a clean microfibre cloth and gently wipe the cabinets, especially around the handles, lower edges, and areas where dust and cooking residue usually collect.

    • This helps prevent small particles from scratching the glossy finish.

  • Next, dampen a microfibre cloth with warm water and wring it out well so it is not too wet.

    • Gently wipe the cabinet doors using smooth, circular motions.

    • Avoid using too much water, as excess moisture can leave streaks or seep into the edges.

  • For grease, fingerprints, and stubborn marks, add a small amount of mild washing-up liquid to warm water.

    • Dip the cloth into the solution, wring it out, and gently clean the affected areas, especially around the hob and food-preparation areas.

    • Avoid using harsh cleaners or abrasive sponges, as they can damage the glossy surface.

  • After cleaning, use another cloth dampened with clean water to remove any soap residue.

    • Then, dry and buff the cabinets with a clean, dry microfibre cloth.

    • This helps prevent watermarks and brings back the shine.

  • Finally, check the cabinets in natural light to make sure there are no streaks, fingerprints, or water spots. Pay extra attention to handles and fittings, and give the surface one final dry wipe if needed.

I hope you now know how to clean gloss kitchen cabinets properly.
