CCTVs are often installed in buildings, but recently, I have observed a lot of individuals placing them in their homes as well. I also got CCTV installed at the entrance of my apartment. As our reliance on these monitoring gadgets rises, it is crucial to also consider their power usage and environmental impact. How much CCTV camera consume per day?

Any electrical device's power consumption, including CCTV cameras, is primarily determined by the following factors:

  • Power wattage

  • Resolution

  • Recording duration

  • Type of power source required like direct electrical connection or battery power

As Shiv mentioned above, you can get the exact power using the formula: P = V x I. Moreover, you can also calculate the power your CCTV consumes by following the below method:

  • Find out the product of the daily CCTV operating hours and the camera's wattage.

  • Now, do the division of the result by 1000 to obtain the value in Kilowatt per hour (KWH).

  • Finally, multiply the power consumption of camera on a daily basis in KWH by 30 days to get your monthly CCTV electricity consumption.

The installation of a CCTV camera also affects how much power it uses. Compared to the cameras that are only triggered when motion is detected, those that are continuously on use more energy. I hope you got an understanding of how much electricity does CCTV cameras use.
