A Khata is a legal document that is used to compute and file property tax in Karnataka. It includes every property detail, like the owner's details, property size, tax assessment, built-up area, carpet area, location, and property identification number. This is the Khata certificate meaning.

The Khata certificate is categorized into two entities - 'A' Khata and 'B' Khata.

  • A Khata is issued to properties that have gained every required approval from the concerned authorities and adhere to the taxation norms and building byelaws.

  • B Khata is issued to a property that has outstanding property tax dues or has violated the building bye-laws. B Khata is a register that BBMP maintains and is a temporary document that you are required to convert into A Khata.

2) The Extract

The extract includes all information about a property that was taken from the registry of property evaluations. Name of the owner, property size, value, date of the most recent estimate, use of the property, classifications, and other information are examples of such information. The extract is available for purchase for Rs. 100. It is effective for five years.
