How to make silver colour?

Last month, I helped my friends with some painting work in my class. During the painting work, one of my friends taught me how to make silver colour. The process was very simple. We started with white paint and slowly added black paint to get a light grey shade. Then, we added a little blue and metallic pigment to give it a silver look. Below, I have shared the step-by-step process so you can easily understand how to make silver colour.

How to Make Silver Colour?

1. First, take white paint in a clean container. Use white as the main colour because it helps you control the shade easily.

2. Next, add a very small amount of black paint. Mix it well and continue adding black slowly until you get a light grey shade. If it becomes too dark, add more white paint.

3. Then, add a tiny drop of blue paint and mix it properly. This gives the grey a cool tone and makes it look closer to silver.

4. Now, add a small amount of silver or metallic pigment. Mix it well until the colour becomes smooth and even. The metallic pigment gives the paint a shiny silver look.

5. Finally, check the colour and adjust it if needed. Add more white if it looks too dark or add a little more metallic pigment if it looks dull. Mix well after every adjustment.

I always loved art and crafts and somehow I lost touch with it until the pandemic hit us hard. To keep my sanity, I went back to my hobbies and that’s when I picked up my painting brushes again after a decade or so. It felt so surreal. Okay, there are many ways to get the grey tone but how do you make it look silver is a task. Nevertheless, I achieved it by mixing two colours and some metallic shimmer. Here’s what I did.

• Purple 

You can choose any of the combinations that I have mentioned above or go with the basic black and white colour. The key is to know how light or dark tone you want to create the grey shade first. You can adjust the amount of black or white colour. I needed it in a lighter shade so I ended up adding more white to the mix.

Now comes the crucial part of how to make silver colour. It is to take the silver shimmer or metallic dust. You can add it to the grey colour in a controlled quantity and there you have it. You have a silver colour on your palette.
