The commercial electricity rate per unit in Bihar depends on the applicable Non-Domestic Supply (NDS) category and contract load. For FY 2026-27, the Bihar Electricity Regulatory Commission (BERC) has approved the following commercial tariffs for NBPDCL and SBPDCL consumers.

Note: These tariff rates apply from 1 April 2026. The fixed and energy charges shown above are the approved rates for the specified commercial categories. Additional charges, such as electricity duty, applicable fuel and power purchase adjustment charges (FPPAS), and other levies or adjustments prescribed by BERC, may affect the final bill.

Estimated energy charge = Electricity consumed × Applicable energy rate

For example, under the approved BERC tariff for FY 2026–27, NDS-II connections with a contract load of up to 0.5 kW have an energy charge of ₹7.73 per unit and a fixed charge of ₹150 per connection per month. For NDS-II connections above 0.5 kW and up to 70 kW, the energy charge is ₹7.73 per kVAh, with a fixed charge of ₹300 per kVA per month.

Your final bill may also include electricity duty, applicable FPPAS and other charges. Therefore, the estimated energy charge alone will not represent your total bill.

For example, if a shop has a contract load of 5 kW and consumes 800 units in a month, its estimated energy charge would be calculated using the applicable NDS-II rate of ₹7.73/kVAh. For this demand-based category, the fixed charge is ₹300/kVA per month.

• Energy charge: 800 kVAh × ₹7.73 = ₹6,184
• Fixed charge: 5 kVA × ₹300 = ₹1,500

• Step 2: Visit the official DISCOM website and select New Connection → New Service Connection. 
• Step 3: Click on apply new connection and choose LT or HT
