When buying a property, you will be required to pay several taxes to legally obtain the property apart from paying the property amount. Some of the most common expenses are stamp duty and registration charges in Bangalore. Stamp Duty: In simple terms, the legal fee that the property’s buyer is required to pay to the area’s sub-registrar to get the property registered under their name is known as stamp duty. Now, let me tell you the registration charges and stamp duty in Bangalore, Karnataka.
Type of Fee Amount
Registration charge 1% of the property value
BMRDA & other Surcharges 3% on stamp duty
BBMP & Corporation Added Surcharges 2% on stamp duty
BBMP, BMRDA & Village Areas Added Cess 10% on the stamp duty

Property Price Stamp Duty Charges
Above Rs. 45 lakh 5.00%
Between Rs. 21 - Rs. 45  lakh 3.00%
Less than Rs. 20 Lakh 2.00%
Now, let’s take an example to understand how stamp duty and property registration charges in Bangalore are calculated: Let’s assume that a plot costs Rs. 6000 per sq. ft. as per BBMP. Therefore, the property’s guidance value will be 6000 times of 1000 = Rs. 60,00,000. Now, if Rahul wants to buy a property of 1000 sq. ft. at Rs. 6000 per sq. ft., the property’s guidance value will be Rs. 6000 times of 1000 = Rs. 60,00,000. Registration Charges are 3% of saleable value (Rs. 60,00,000) = Rs. 1,80,000. Stamp Duty Charges are 5.6% of saleable value (Rs. 60,00,000) = Rs. 3,36,000. (Note: 5.6% = 5% stamp duty + 10% cess on stamp duty + 2% surcharge on stamp duty) The total Stamp Duty and Registration charges in Bangalore will be Rs. 1,80,000. + Rs. 3,36,000 =Rs. 5,16,000 So, Rahul has to pay a total of Rs. 60,00,000 + Rs. 5,10,000 = Rs. 65,10,000 to get the property. I hope now you clearly understand the stamp duty and registration charges in Karnataka (Bangalore) and don’t need any Karnataka stamp duty rates 2021 pdf anymore to know how to calculate these charges.
