The separate A/B Khata classification in Bengaluru is being phased out. The Karnataka Cabinet approved converting B Khata properties to A Khata statewide, extending the model already rolled out by the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA).
Under the "Namma Khate, Namma Hakku" campaign launched by Deputy CM DK Shivakumar on May 16, 2026, around 7 lakh B Khata owners in Bengaluru got a steep discount on conversion fees for a 100-day window, with weekly help camps at GBA centres. The goal is to bring unauthorised or revenue-site properties under legal purview, eventually making B Khata redundant while boosting municipal revenue.
