How to sanitize carpet?

Here is how to sanitize carpet at home.

• First, vacuum the carpet well to remove dust, dirt, pet hair, and small particles. 

  • Clean the vacuum bag or filter and check for any blockage before you start. 

  • Move the vacuum slowly and clean the same area two or three times. 

• Next, treat any stains with a suitable cleaning solution. Let it sit for a few minutes, then gently blot the stain with a clean cloth. Repeat the process if needed.

• After removing the stains, you can sanitize the carpet. 

  • Fill a spray bottle with white vinegar and lightly spray it over the carpet. Leave it for a few hours or overnight. 

  • White vinegar helps reduce germs and bad smells naturally.

• Then, use a steam cleaner if you have one. 

  • Steam cleaning uses hot steam to clean the carpet deeply and kill many germs. 

  • Move the steam cleaner slowly so every part of the carpet gets cleaned properly. Do not rush while using the machine.

• Finally, let the carpet dry completely. Do not walk on it until it is fully dry. A wet carpet can collect dust again and may also develop a bad smell.

• Now use a spray to rinse it off and let it dry

• The last step is to apply sanitizer. You can buy spray sanitizer from the market easily.

If you don’t want to get an artificial cleaner, then you can use vinegar or baking soda as well. You must note that you’ll need high quantities of these materials and a lot of time for them to show results.
