Last week, I cleaned my wooden sofa because it had collected dust, small food particles, and a few light stains. You only need a mild soap solution and a clean microfiber cloth to make your wooden sofa look neat and clean. I followed a simple cleaning process without using harsh chemicals or too much water. Below, I have shared the steps so you can easily understand how to clean wooden sofa.

What is the Best Way to Clean a Wooden Sofa?

  • First, remove all the cushions, pillows, and other items from your wooden sofa. Take a soft, dry microfiber cloth and wipe the entire wooden frame.

    • Clean the back, arms, sides, legs, and corners properly.

    • You can also use a soft brush to remove dust from small gaps and carved areas.

  • Next, prepare a mild cleaning solution by mixing a small amount of mild liquid soap with lukewarm water in a bowl. Do not use too much soap or water because excess moisture can damage the wood.

    • Before cleaning the entire sofa, test the solution on a small hidden area to make sure it does not affect the colour or finish.

  • Once you are sure the solution is safe, dip a clean microfiber cloth into it and squeeze out the excess water. The cloth should be slightly damp and not soaking wet.

    • Gently wipe the wooden sofa section by section.

    • Pay extra attention to areas with stains, sticky marks, or visible dirt.

  • After wiping the sofa, take another clean and dry microfiber cloth and wipe the wooden surface immediately. This will remove any remaining moisture and help prevent water from staying on the wood.

  • Finally, leave the sofa to dry naturally in a well-ventilated room.

    • Do not place the cushions or other items back until the wooden surface is completely dry.

    • Avoid using harsh chemicals, abrasive scrubbers, or too much water, as they can damage the wood and its finish.

So, you can clean your wooden sofa properly while helping maintain its natural look and finish.
