Hi Friend, I still recall my teacher discussing colour theory with us. She most likely had a colour wheel with the three primary colours that are Red, yellow, and blue explained on it. These primary colours, according to my teacher, cannot be created by mixing other colours. As I was always curious about how to make blue colour by mixing two colours? But, when I found that Blue is a primary colour, we can’t build it by mixing colours. I was a little sad. Nevertheless, when I grew old, being a painter myself, I started mixing and combining colours. To my surprise, one fine day I created a blue colour using two different colours. One fine day, I blended Magenta and Cyan to make blue. This was the answer to my question of how to make blue colour with two colours? This goes against everything I've been taught about colours since I was a kid. Now that I have got my answer about how to make blue with two colors? I started experimenting to create other shades of blue. These colours can be used to create the ocean or the sky. Colours like aquamarine, cobalt, and turquoise were created successfully. I've included a chart below that may assist you in determining the various colours of blue.
Shades of Blue Colour What colours to mix
Turquoise Blue + White + Green
Cobalt Turquoise + Ultramarine
Cerulean White + Cobalt
Teal Green + Blue
Royal Blue Purple + Blue + Black
Navy Blue Black + Orange + Blue
Cornflower Gray + Blue
Powder Blue White + Royal Blue
Indigo Red + Blue

Upon beginning to teach my kids, I had the opportunity to pick up and retain a lot of knowledge. I already left my favourite pastime, painting for the past two years. I couldn't recall which two colours make blue when my daughter asked. Hence, I attempted to decipher it by examining the hues. After doing some online research, I quickly learned that cyan and magenta combine to form blue. I was thrilled to see the desired shade when I requested her to mix them up.

What Colour Mix Makes Blue?

Let’s check out how to create blue colour easily:
  • First, fill a palette with equal proportions of cyan and magenta paint. These two colours can be combined from their primary colors, red and blue for magenta, and blue and green for cyan.
  • Mix the two colours together with a palette knife or paintbrush. Make sure the two colours are evenly blended together by slowly mixing them together. You'll notice a change as you mix, and the result will show a stunning blue colour.
  • Increase the amount of magenta for a deeper blue and the amount of cyan for a lighter blue.
By experimenting with the ratios of cyan to magenta, you can customise the colour to your preference. You can mix Blue with Crimson to get a warm blue colour.
