Patta is a legal document issued by the state government of Tamil Nadu at the time of when you buy a property in the state. Patta verifies your legal ownership over the property. Here is the step by step process on how to check patta number in Tamil Nadu. 
  • Visit the official Land Records e-services website of Tamil Nadu or click on 
https://eservices.tn.gov.in/eservicesnew/land/chitta.html?lan=en 
  • Enter DISTRICT from the drop down menu
  • Select Area Type
  • You will be redirected to a new page. 
  • Since I entered Urban area, I had to provide these details - Taluk, Town, Ward, Block, Survey Number, Sub Division Number and authentication value
  • Click on ‘Submit’
  • A document will appear on your screen which will have land record details and patta number on it. 
  • Print the document or take a screenshot for future reference.
