Summary
To add a name in property tax, apply online or at the ward office for co-owner inclusion. Submit sale deed, tax receipt, ID proofs, and NOC. Pay fees and complete verification. Once approved, the new name is added to records. Process takes 15–30 days, depending on the city.

To add a name to your property tax, you need to submit an application to the revenue office. Adding a name to property tax records is done through a process called name inclusion. It updates municipal records to reflect an additional owner or co-owner. This is required when you want to add a spouse, family member, or partner after purchase, inheritance, or legal transfer. I have shared

how to add name in property tax below.

How can I Add Name in Property Tax?

  • The process starts by submitting an application for property tax name addition either online through the municipal website or offline at the local ward office.

  • You must clearly mention that it is a request for adding a co-owner, not a complete ownership transfer.

  • Along with the application, submit essential documents such as the registered sale deed or updated ownership document (showing joint ownership), latest property tax receipt, identity and address proof of all owners, and a No Objection Certificate (NOC) or consent affidavit from the existing owner.

  • In some cases, you may also need a gift deed, partition deed, or legal document supporting the addition of a new owner.

  • Pay the fees. Once the application is submitted, the municipal authority verifies the documents and may conduct a physical inspection of the property.

  • If all records are valid and there are no pending tax dues, the request is approved. The new name is added alongside the existing owner in property tax records. The updated details will then appear in future tax bills.

To prevent rejection, make sure all co-owners give their consent. Verify the details in the document twice to ensure uniformity.

The process usually takes around 15 to 30 days, depending on the city and verification procedures. But if you are submitting an online application, it is generally faster and more convenient. Hope you found this information helpful.
