Top 11 TV Unit Furniture Design Ideas

The TV unit is a focal point of most living rooms, so choosing a stylish and functional design is essential. The top 11 inspiring TV unit furniture design ideas to elevate your space are:

1. Modern Minimalist

modern minimalist furniture design idea

The modern minimalist TV unit is a design concept emphasising simplicity and functionality. It is characterised by clean lines and sleek finishes, contributing to a streamlined and contemporary aesthetic.

The minimalist approach eliminates unnecessary elements, focusing on the essentials and creating a sense of openness and airiness. This TV unit furniture design in India can transform your living room into a space that exudes sophistication and modernity.

In terms of materials, modern minimalist TV units often incorporate glass, metal, or lacquered wood. These materials not only enhance the sleekness of the design but also add a touch of elegance. The colour palette is typically neutral, with shades like white, black, or grey dominating the design.

One of the critical features of this design is hidden storage, which maintains a clean and uncluttered look. The hidden storage solutions are cleverly integrated into the design, ensuring that the unit is as functional as it is stylish. Such a TV unit crafted with glossy white MDF or lacquered wood can cost around ₹33,000 to ₹45,000.

2. Mid-Century Modern

A mid-century modern TV unit is a nod to the iconic style of the 1950s and 60s.  This living room TV unit furniture design is typically made from wood, which adds a warm and natural touch to the space. The wood is often finished in various colours, from light to dark, allowing it to blend seamlessly with various interior styles.

The unit's structure is usually straightforward, with open shelving or closed cabinets for storage and a flat surface to accommodate the television. The defining features of this design are its tapered legs and brass hardware, which add a touch of elegance and sophistication.

The legs, often angled or straight, lift the unit off the ground, creating a sense of space and lightness. The brass hardware, whether it's handles, knobs, or hinges, provides a beautiful contrast to the wood, adding a touch of luxury.

Geometric patterns may also be incorporated into the design, either in the form of inlaid wood patterns or cut-out designs on cabinet doors.  A mid-century modern TV unit made of walnut or teak wood with tapered legs budgeted between ₹25,000 - ₹45,000.

3. Rustic Farmhouse

A rustic farmhouse TV unit is a charming addition to any living space. It embodies a warm and inviting aesthetic, using reclaimed wood or distressed finishes that lend the piece an authentic, lived-in feel.

The unit can also feature barn doors, which add to its rustic appeal. They provide a practical solution for concealing electronics or other items when not in use. Shiplap accents and metal details enhance the unit's rustic charm, contributing to its overall farmhouse aesthetic.

Additionally, using natural materials helps create a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The rustic farmhouse TV unit is not just a piece of furniture but a statement piece that sets the tone for the rest of the room. A rustic farmhouse TV unit made from reclaimed wood or with distressed painted finishes can cost around ₹28,000 - ₹48,000.

4. Industrial Chic

This TV unit furniture design often incorporates elements like exposed pipes and rivets, adding to the unit's unique character. Casters are also standard, providing mobility and a touch of vintage charm.

They pair exceptionally well with leather furniture, adding luxury and comfort to the raw industrial look. Exposed brick walls are the perfect backdrop, enhancing the unit's rustic appeal. Vintage lighting fixtures can also illuminate the unit, creating a warm and inviting ambience.

An industrial chic TV unit made of metal pipes with reclaimed wood shelves or glass panels can cost around ₹25,000 - ₹40,000.

5. Scandinavian Style

Scandinavian TV unit designs reflect the broader philosophy of Scandinavian design, emphasising a harmonious blend of form and function. The TV unit furniture design is characterised by its understated elegance and the use of light-coloured woods such as pine, oak, or beech.

The light wood enhances the aesthetic appeal and contributes to the room's sense of spaciousness and airiness. The clean lines and minimal ornamentation nod to the Scandinavian love for simplicity and efficiency, eliminating unnecessary elements that do not serve a functional purpose.

The functionality of Scandinavian TV units is evident in their thoughtful incorporation of storage solutions. Open shelving is a standard feature, providing an ideal space for displaying decorative items or books, adding a personal touch to the living space.

Hidden storage compartments are another essential feature, designed to keep media equipment, cables, and other items out of sight, maintaining a clutter-free and organised space. The overall cost of a Scandinavian TV unit is made of light wood with clean lines and hidden storage can cost between ₹22,000 - ₹35,000.

6. Floating Unit

A floating TV unit is a contemporary piece of furniture that brings a touch of elegance and sophistication to your living space. Its wall-mounted installation characterises the design, which gives the illusion of the unit 'floating' off the ground.

This unique feature adds a modern aesthetic to your room. It optimises the use of space, making it an excellent choice for rooms with limited floor area. The unit's clean lines and minimalist design can seamlessly blend with various interior styles, from modern to industrial, enhancing the overall ambience of your living room.

Constructing a floating TV unit involves using wood or metal, ensuring its durability and ability to support your TV's weight securely. Wood offers a warm and natural look, and metal provides a sleek and industrial vibe, These materials can be customised to match your room's decor, creating a harmonious visual flow.

Additionally, the unit can be equipped with storage compartments, such as shelves or drawers, providing a practical solution for organising your media devices and accessories. A floating TV unit can cost around ₹19,000 - ₹35,000.

7. Corner Unit

A corner TV unit is a practical and stylish solution for entertainment setups, especially in rooms where space is premium. These units' design fits perfectly into corners, allowing you to utilise every inch of your room effectively. They are typically compact yet offer ample storage space for your television, media players, and other related items. The top surface is usually broad and sturdy to accommodate TVs of various sizes. At the same time, the shelves and cabinets beneath can house accessories like remote controls, DVDs, gaming consoles, and more.

Corner TV units can significantly enhance the look of your living space. They come in various styles, materials, and finishes to suit interior decor. From sleek modern designs in high-gloss finishes to traditional wooden styles that exude warmth and cosiness, there's a corner TV unit for every taste.

Some units also feature built-in cable management systems for a neat appearance. A corner TV unit made of wood, MDF, or laminate can cost between ₹15,000 - ₹25,000.

8. Multi-Functional

A multi-functional TV unit is a versatile piece of furniture that serves multiple purposes. It accommodates your television and related equipment while providing additional storage and workspace. The TV unit furniture design is typically sleek and modern, with clean lines and a streamlined appearance.

The design of a multi-functional TV unit is often customisable, allowing you to choose the features that best suit your needs. For instance, you might opt for a unit with more shelving if you have an extensive book collection or one with more cabinets if you need to hide away clutter.

The workspace might include a desk surface, keyboard tray, or a built-in charging station. The TV unit furniture design aims to create a functional, organised space that enhances your living room and seamlessly fits your lifestyle.  A multi-functional TV unit made of wood, MDF, or laminate, equipped with drawers, shelves, and compartments, can cost around ₹20,000 - ₹30,000.

9. Open Shelving

open shelving tv unit home furniture design

The open-shelving TV unit furniture design is a versatile and modern approach to home decor. It provides a platform to display cherished items, such as books, artwork, or decorative pieces, turning your TV unit into a personalised centrepiece.

Open design can enhance the sense of space in a room, making it feel larger and more open. This is particularly beneficial in smaller spaces where every inch counts. The open shelves also allow easy access and visibility, making it practical for everyday use.

However, the key to maintaining the aesthetic appeal of this design is organisation. Since there are no doors or drawers to hide clutter, keeping your shelves tidy and well-arranged is essential. Consider grouping or arranging similar items visually pleasingly, such as by colour or size.

Additionally, rotating items on display can keep the look fresh and engaging. Despite its simplicity, the open shelving TV unit furniture design requires a thoughtful approach to styling to ensure it adds to the overall appeal of your space rather than detracting from it. An open shelving TV can cost around  ₹20,000 - ₹38,000.

10. Built-In Unit

A built-in TV unit is a sophisticated and modern approach to integrating technology into your living space. The design is characterised by its seamless integration into the wall, which provides a clean, uncluttered look.

This type of unit is custom-made to fit the specific dimensions of your wall, ensuring a perfect fit. The built-in TV unit furniture design also allows ample storage space for other media components, such as speakers, gaming consoles, and Blu-ray players. This helps keep your living area tidy and organised.

Additionally, the unit can be outfitted with custom shelving and cabinetry, providing additional display and storage options. Lighting can also be incorporated into the design to highlight displayed items and create a warm, inviting ambience. A custom-made built-in TV unit can cost around ₹40,000 or more.

11. Upcycled Vintage

The upcycled vintage TV unit furniture design is a creative and sustainable approach to home decor. It involves repurposing old furniture pieces, such as dressers, buffets, or armour, and transforming them into functional and stylish TV units.

This gives the furniture a new purpose and adds a unique and personal touch to your living room. The vintage charm of the repurposed furniture can create a warm and inviting atmosphere, making your living room a cosy and comfortable space to relax and enjoy.

In terms of design, the vintage furniture can be restored and modified to accommodate the TV and other related equipment. The drawers and cabinets of the dressers or armouries can be used for storage, providing a practical solution for organising DVDs, game consoles, and other accessories.

The surface can be refinished to enhance its vintage appeal or painted in a colour that complements the room's overall interior design. The result is a unique TV unit that combines functionality, style, and sustainability. An upcycled vintage TV can cost around ₹25,000 and ₹45,000.

My daughter who is studying architecture in college came with me to the HSR center. She was quizzing the consultant about material sustainability—whether the plywood is from certified sources, if the laminates have low VOC emissions, what happens to waste material from the factory. The consultant handled every question and even pulled up their material certification documents. My daughter was impressed. She told me later: 'Appa, this company actually knows their supply chain, not just their design.' When a 20-year-old architecture student validates your choice, you know you've picked right.

Just finished the design phase with NoBroker interiors. I really appreciate the efforts done by our designer Sujendra Shetty. He helped and guided us in all designs we finalised. He was really patient while we took our time to finalise the designs and when we did material reselection. He was proffesional yet friendly and made the design phase smooth for us. We would be starting the production soon and I will update this review on project completion.

Specifically writing about the false ceiling consultation at the center. I didnt know there was so much to know about ceilings! The designer showed us different options—gypsum board, POP, wooden grid, MDF panels—and explained which works best for which room. The living room got a peripheral cove lighting design with warm LEDs, the bedroom got a simple recessed light plan (she said elaborate ceilings in bedrooms can feel oppressive when your lying down, which makes total sense), and the kids room got a small starlight panel. She also planned all the AC routing, curtain pelmet concealment, and speaker cable channels inside the false ceiling so nothing is visible. The ceiling alone transformed how our rooms feel. Also, their false ceiling pricing per sq ft was pretty competitive—I had checked with two separate contractors before.

This review is from a couple who fights about everything haha. I wanted dark colors and modern look, my husband wanted light wood and earthy tones. The designer at Varthur center literally played mediator. She showed us a concept where the common areas (living room, kitchen) use light wooden textures that my husband likes, and the master bedroom uses the darker charcoal tones that I prefer. The kids room got a neutral palette with colorful accents. Everyone happy. She called it 'transitional design' where different zones have different personalities but connected by a common accent color (we chose teal). The 3D walkthrough she made showed exactly how it all flows together. I showed it to 3 friends and they all said it looks like something out of Architectural Digest. OK maybe I'm exaggerating a little but you get the point. We both love it.

We had a unique situation—our apartment has two different wall thicknesses in the kitchen area due to some builder construction issue. One wall is standard 4.5 inch and the adjacent one is 9 inch. The NoBroker Varthur team actually sent a measurement person who identified this variation and adjusted the cabinet depth design accordingly so both sides look flush from the front. Previous vendor we consulted didn't even notice this discrepancy during their site visit. The devil truly is in the details and NoBroker catches those devils.

We are from Thanisandra and visited the center for our villa interior project. The designer adapted her approach for a larger independent house—didn't just scale up apartment designs. She proposed separate design personalities for ground floor (where guests are entertained—formal, elegant) and first floor (private family spaces—warm, casual). The staircase got under-staircase pull-out storage that holds 30 pairs of shoes. The double-height living room got a dramatic false ceiling with a chandelier recess. The master bedroom got a walk-in closet design instead of a regular wardrobe. Villa interiors need different thinking than apartment interiors and this team clearly has experience with both formats.

I had a great experience with NoBroker Interiors at the HRBR Experience Centre. The entire process was smooth and well-managed. Pradnyan (Designer) did an excellent job in understanding our requirements and providing thoughtful design solutions. Unnav from Sales was very supportive and ensured everything was clearly explained and well-coordinated throughout the process. Hetal also gave a detailed explanation, making it easy for us to understand every aspect. Overall, the team was professional, responsive, and helpful. Looking forward to moving ahead with them!

Something specific about the Horamavu team that I havent seen mentioned in other reviews—they offer a FREE pre-site-assessment before giving you any quotation. An engineer visits your apartment, checks wall conditions for dampness, verifies electrical point locations, measures ceiling height variations (builder flats often have slightly uneven ceilings), checks floor levelness, and documents any structural elements like beams and pillars that affect furniture placement. All this BEFORE you pay a single rupee. This assessment report then becomes the foundation for an accurate design and quotation. Other companies quote based on a floor plan drawing alone without ever seeing the actual site conditions. That's like prescribing medicine without examining the patient.

I am delighted to write this review after completing my VILA interior through NO BROKER Team The production and execution team is very professional and customer friendly in accommodating and matching with our requirements and our dreams of what we want to have it in our home. If I can mention the name then it is certainly Mr. Harsha, Mr. Munish and Mr. Suhail will take away entire credit for the final output This team is far better than their in-house design team who doesn't know much about practical application of what they or could do using a software. They need more experience particularly using the wood and material selection along with final finish with light fittings. Even though there was a mismatch and less expectation from NO BROKER certain team members, The above mentioned team members pulled it together and gave the best satisfactory finish

We visited for our complete 4BHK project and what impressed me most was the COORDINATION. NoBroker didnt just handle the modular furniture—they coordinated with our painter for color matching, our electrician for additional power points needed for built-in appliances and wardrobe USB charging, and our AC contractor for duct routing through the false ceiling. They provided a detailed coordination document to each vendor listing exactly what pre-work needs to happen before their installation begins. This vendor coordination is usually a NIGHTMARE—the typical situation is each vendor blaming the other for delays. Having one team that manages all the interfaces is incredibly valuable.

As a working professional with limited time to manage contractors, the project management aspect is what attracted me. Visited the center with a Pinterest board of 47 saved kitchen images. The consultant didn’t get overwhelmed. She patiently went through each one, identified common elements I was drawn to (handleless cabinets, wooden textures, open shelving), and created a unified design that captured the essence of all those pins. She basically translated my chaotic Pinterest board into a cohesive design. Overall we are very satisfied with the entire experience from start to finish.
