From suppliers and manufacturers to consumers and dealers, every taxpayer is required to file their tax return with the GST department every year. Luckily, the government allows people to file GST returns online. Read below to know how to file GST return online step by step.Make sure you’re registered under GST and have the 15-digit GST ID number with you based on your PAN and state code. You’ll have to register yourself first if you don’t have this number. You can follow these same steps to file NIL GST Return:
Go to the GST website
Tap on ‘services’
Now tap on ‘returns dashboard’ and then, enter the return filing period and the financial year from the drop-down menu.
Choose the return you are looking to file and tap on ‘prepare online’.
Fill in the relevant details and tap on ‘save’.
You will see a success message on the page after that. Next, tap on ‘submit’.
Once the return status becomes ‘submitted’, tap on ‘payment of tax’ .
Then, tap on ‘check balance’ to see the cash and credit balance.
Now, to clear your liabilities, you are required to specify the credit amount you want to use from the credit already available.
Next tap on ‘offset liability’ for making the payment and tap on ‘ok’ when the confirmation is displayed.
Lastly, from the drop-down list, choose an authorized signatory. After that, tap on ‘file form with EVC’ or ‘file form with DSC’ and tap on ‘proceed’. Finally, just make the payment for your respective GST.
