Initially open shelves looked great but cleaning them got too tough. They are open to the air and dust and hence get dirty easily. To be honest, I don’t think shelves without doors make much sense for me. I live in Bangalore and I have lived in 3 rental homes. Out of these 3 one of them didn’t have any doors on the cupboards and it was a nightmare for me. I struggled to keep my shelves free of cockroaches, fruit flies and if nothing, there was moisture all the time. But I do understand that open shelves do look good and are in trend. So, here are a few things that I would recommend you do. I will tell you how to cover open shelves in bedroom along with a few ideas for kitchen as well.
