Summary
To adjust wardrobe door hinges, first loosen the height screws and move the door up or down until it is level. Next, use the depth adjustment screw to move the door forward or backward. Finally, adjust the side screws to align the door left or right and create even gaps. Make small adjustments and tighten all screws once the door is properly aligned.

Recently, I noticed that my wardrobe doors were not closing properly. One door was slightly higher than the other, and the gaps between the doors were also uneven. Instead of calling a carpenter immediately, I checked how concealed hinges work and learned that most wardrobe doors can be adjusted in three directions. You can adjust the door up and down, forward and backwards, and from left to right.

How to Adjust Wardrobe Door Hinges?

  • First, adjust the door up and down. Loosen the mounting screws slightly by turning them anti-clockwise. Do not remove the screws completely.

  • Then, gently move the door up or down until it is at the same level as the other wardrobe doors. Check the top and bottom edges to make sure they are aligned. Make the same adjustment on all hinges and then tighten the screws.

  • Next, adjust the door forward or backwards. Use the adjustment screw on the hinge to control how close the door sits to the wardrobe frame.

    • If the door is sticking out or sitting too far inside, turn the screw slowly to correct its position.

    • Open and close the door after each adjustment to check the alignment.

  • Finally, adjust the door from left to right. Use the side adjustment screw to move the door sideways. This helps correct uneven gaps between two wardrobe doors. Make small turns and check the gaps after each adjustment until they look equal.

Once you're done adjusting the door, open and close it several times to make sure it moves smoothly without rubbing against the frame or another door. If needed, make small adjustments until it closes properly.  Make small adjustments and check the door after every change. This will help you achieve straight, level, and properly aligned wardrobe doors.
