Okay so to tell you how much paint is needed for a duplex house, you can take it to be about 25 to 32 litres, taking 1000 sq. ft. as the carpet area of your duplex. So see, the paint requirement will depend on your house area, the paint you choose and the number of coats.

How to Calculate Paint for Your Duplex?

  1. See on average, 1000 sq. ft. to 1,200 sq. ft. is the average carpet area of a house. You need to multiply the carpet area of your duplex by 2.5 or 3.5, these are the standard conversion to get a paintable wall area). So multiplying 1000 sq. ft. by 2.5 and 3.5 gives you a range of 2,500 sq. ft. to 3,500 sq. ft.

  2. Now comes the paint coverage. On average, wall paints give you like 100 to 110 sq. ft. of coverage. So you can then use the formula to find the paint needed by dividing the total paintable carpet area by the paint coverage per litre.

  3. Now if you are doing two coats of paint, then double the number you get by two. So for a 1000 sq. ft. duplex, on average, you can expect 50 to 62 litres of paint.

Hope this helps.
