What is DICGC meaning?

The Reserve Bank of India's complete corporation DICGC stands for Deposit Insurance and Credit Guarantee Corporation. This corporation was established to strengthen India's bank credit and to offer deposit insurance. Deposit insurance protects money that you have deposited with a bank. The Deposit Insurance and Credit Guarantee Corporation offers it (DICGC). Small financing banks and commercial public banks are included. Deposit insurance does not cover company deposits.

What specifically is covered by DICGC?

Aside from the deposits that are particularly stated below, all deposits, including fixed, savings, current, fixed, periodic and other types, are often guaranteed by DICGC:

  • A foreign government's deposits of any kind.

  • Deposits that are made by the national or state governments, whichever is applicable.

  • Deposits placed with a state cooperative bank by any state land financial institution.

  • On any sum that is owed on account of a deposit that was made outside of India, regardless of its size.

  • A number of interbank deposits.

  • The company is particularly permitted to exclude any deposit with prior permission from the Reserve Bank of India.

What is DICGC Act 1961?

The DICGC covers the depositors' funds held in the Indian state, local, national, and international banks. Banks that have chosen DICGC cover are the only ones who have access to this service. The Deposit Insurance and Credit Guarantee Corporation Act, 1961, and The Deposit Insurance and Credit Guarantee Corporation General Regulations, 1961, which were created by the banking regulator in accordance with Section 50, Subsection (3) of the Act, are the laws and regulations that govern the RBI corporation.
