Once I was wondering what

is CPIN in GST. My mother, who is a CA, helped me. She told me to understand first that CPIN is different from CIN in GST.

CPIN stands for Common Portal Identification Number whereas CIN stands for Challan Identification Number. CPIN comprises 14-digit along with a 3 digit Bank Code. It is issued at the time generating GST tax challan online. She told me that the CPIN is only active for 7 days from the day it is generated, after which the system will reject the payment.

The 14-digit CPIN number is generated before payment of GST. The 17-digit CIN number is issued after payment of GST. When you submit the challan, the GST Portal generates a challan with a 17-digit unique identity number. This number is CIN.

This is all about

CPIN in the GST challan
