As per the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike, BBMP property tax rules, the Commissioner, will designate residential and non-residential properties in various areas or streets within the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike area into as many zones as he thinks appropriate and designate them as Zone A, B, etc. in order to determine the unit area value of a property. Apart from the zoning rule, I have also shared the property tax payment rule that is followed by the BBMP.
What are the BBMP Property Tax Payment Rules?
The following tax payment rules are as follows:
If the amount of property tax owed is Rs. 1000.00 or more, it must be paid exclusively by cheque, demand draft, or pay order made payable to the Commissioner, Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike, at any bank payable in Bangalore, or electronically as the Commissioner may designate.
In cases where the entire amount of tax due is less than Rs. 1000.00, cash payments must be made at the respective jurisdictional Assistant Revenue offices at the office or agency that he has designated so.
Any property taxes paid in advance for the current year will be subtracted from the total tax owed for the year, with the remaining tax to be paid at the time the returns are submitted. Taxes paid in advance will be subtracted from the total amount owed the following year if they are still excessive.
