If the property has been acquired by your father against a will, it will be deemed as self acquired property. Only the property that has been passed from one generation to another for at least four consecutive generations is deemed as ancestral property. All legal heirs have a claim on ancestral property. In the case of self acquired property, the claim is mentioned in the will.
