I have recently used the
IT Department
โs new e-filing website to file my
income tax return
(ITR) online. For this, I was required to log in to the portal. Let me tell you that youโll have to register yourself on the e-filing website first before you can log in. To register yourself, you just have to visit the official website (link given below), click on โRegisterโ and fill the required details. Now, let me tell you how to login to income tax website.
There are 14 methods to log into the website according to the tax department. You can log in using a Static password, Net Banking, Aadhaar OTP, etc. I log in to the portal using a mobile number/email, so I can tell you about the process for the same:

How to Login in Income Tax SiteClick here to visit the e-filing portal of the IT Department
Tap on 'Login Here' button on the homepage
Fill in your PAN details in the โEnter your User IDโ textbox and tap on โContinueโ.
After that, confirm the secure access message you get.
Next, tap on โContinueโ after filling in your password.
Select whether to receive the six-digit OTP through text message or voice call to your primary mobile no. Next, tap on โenterโ.
Tap on โLoginโ after entering the 6-digit OTP sent to your registered email address or mobile number on the e-Filing website.
The e-Filing dashboard will appear on the screen after successful validation.
Now you know how to login income tax portal.

The OTP will stay valid for fifteen minutes only.

Youโll get 3 chances to enter the correct OTP.

A new OTP will be created when you tap โResend OTPโ.
