As an employee, I have access to the EPFO UAN, or Universal Account Number, service. It allows me to view all of these accounts' information in one location. Generally, when a person changes positions, the current company also issues the UAN for the employee. In this case, more than one UAN is assigned to the same person. So you must understand how to deactivate UAN number online.

You must first visit EPFO's online platform to request deactivation:
EPF India Official WebsiteInput your UAN number and password to log in now. Tap on One Member - One EPF Account after that.
Proceed to the "Online Services" area and select "Request for transfer of account" from there.
Submit this application to transfer money from your old PF account to the new UAN-connected PF account.
After confirming your information, EPFO then detects numerous UANs.
Following the completion of the validation, the EPFO deactivates all of your previous UANs and attaches the PF accounts associated with those UANs to the current UAN.
Following this, the owner of the PF account gathers data through SMS and may be requested whether to maintain the new UAN functional or not.
After that, all of your old PF accounts' funds are moved to the account connected to your current UAN.
How to deactivate an old UAN number offline?
You must first notify your employer if you carry two UANs in order to get the older one cancelled. You can also make contact with EPFO by contacting
uanepf@epfindia.gov.in
. Specify all of your UANs in the email, along with any essential information. Your former UANs will then all be deactivated after EPFO has completed the verification process. The only UAN in use will be the most recent. You must then submit a PF transfer application. To the new UAN and the PF account that goes along with it, EPFO will transfer all of your previous PF accounts' funds upon submission of this request.
You must have understood how to deactivate UAN number.

According to provident fund law, employees are only allowed to have one UAN account. It is necessary to deactivate the prior UAN when an employee receives two UANs. But do you know how to deactivate UAN number online? You can do it by directly contacting the EPFO by email. I have shared the detailed steps below.
How can I Deactivate My UAM Account?
The Universal Account Number is a 12-digit number assigned to every employee contributing to the Employees' Provident Fund (EPF). Because of employer errors or system issues, some individuals end up with multiple UANs. In such cases, deactivating the old UAN is essential to maintain proper EPF records.
Here are the methods you can follow.
Maintaining multiple UANs can lead to issues in PF transfer and withdrawal. Reach out to the EPFO Helpdesk via the
EPFO official portal.
Write an email to uanepf@epfindia.gov.in stating:
Both UANs (new and old)
Your name, registered mobile number, and Aadhaar number
Reason for deactivation request
Scanned copy of your PAN, Aadhaar, and employment proof
Ask your current employer to raise a request to EPFO via the EPFO Employer Portal to merge and deactivate the old UAN.
I hope you found this helpful.

Yes, we can. Many times, individuals pull out cash from their old PF account and get another PF account opened in another organisation. Their two UAN numbers are generated in this manner. If you've also made a mistake like this, fix it right away or there could be a problem with your fund process. Transfer the funds from the previous PF account to the new PF account and deactivate the previous UAN in order to avoid this issue. Here is the process of the UAN number deactivate.
How to deactivate my UAN number?
Instruct your employer to deactivate the previous UAN.
You can also send an email directly to
uanepf@epfindia.gov.in
. You will be able to notify the EPFO via email thanks to this.
Make sure to include your UANs and related data in the email.
These will be verified by the EPFO and your previous UANs will be closed.
It will only be possible to use the most recent UAN.
You will now need to apply to transfer the funds from the old UAN-linked PF account to the new PF account.
The EPFO will move the money from all of your previous PF accounts to the new UAN and linked PF account following your application.
SMS Intimation is Sent to Member Employee
This information is sent to the PF account holder via SMS. A SMS comes to the record holder's number which is enrolled with EPFO.
The account holder may then be asked whether or not to keep the new UAN active.
After that, the new UAN-linked PF account will receive the funds from all of your previous PF accounts.
The system automatically adds the new UAN number to the ECR in situations in which the employee must obtain the outstanding PF from the previous employer. In such instances, the outstanding balance is transferred to the new UAN-linked PF account.
I hope now you know how to deactivate UAN with Aadhar.
