Hello. While getting a window AC installed in our bedroom, I observed that the technician tilted the AC a bit. Out of curiosity, I asked him do window air conditioners have to be tilted for proper installation. He said yes, during the installation, there needs to be a tilt in the rear end, which prevents the condensed water from overflowing indoors. This helps overcome electrical shocks, fire and other damages.

How to Install a Window AC?
Here is a simple process for you to understand the right way to install a window AC:
Place the AC in the installation area and ensure it protrudes toward the indoor side by 110mm to 180mm.
Fix the AC firmly to ensure it doesn’t fall toward the outdoor unit side. Install the AC in a manner such that the rear side is tilted downward by 10 to 15mm.
When you use the level meter, adjust it to ¼ bubbles.
After fixing the AC, block the gap near the wall or the AC with the insulation material given along with the appliance.
This is all from my end. I hope you now know why window air conditioners need to be tilted.
