Over the years, interior design has transformed beyond just furniture. Thus, many aspects of decor aim to make the homeowner's life easier by virtue of different furniture items such as hydraulic doors, wall colours, trolleys, storage cabinets etc. Interior designing is the key for someone who wants to live a comfortable life in the fast-paced city of Bangalore. There are plenty of interior decorators in the market. Still, it is essential to know the average Cost of Interior designer in Bangalore needed to size your property before finalising anything.

Home Interior Cost in Bangalore

Quality interior design cost in Bangalore apartments

Well-designed decor can transform your apartment or bungalow into your dream personal space by changing aspects such as wall colours, false ceiling designs, or powerful LED lighting. The overall home interior design cost in Bangalore depends 2 main factors: one, the furniture and its quality type, and the 2nd total area of the house. The average interior cost per sq. ft. in Bangalore, charged by a mid-level designer, starts at Rs. 1300 for minimal décor requirements and goes up to Rs. 5000 for top-quality, fully furnished décor.

What are the essential aspects of interior design

Walls – The most dominant aspect of interior design is walls, as they occupy the most real estate and are a part of every room. Walls can be decorated by choosing complementary colours, wall art, clocks, storage cabinets, etc.

Floors - If the house floor doesn't look nice, it will ruin everything in the house. For floor designs, you can choose something natural, such as white/off-white tiles, or go with a classic wooden or marble floor, which will add to the flat interior design cost in Bangalore, but is worth it! Maintaining the perfect contrast in the colours you use in the house must be a priority when choosing the floor design.

Furniture Decor – The other important and often the most expensive part of Bangalore's interior design cost is the furniture and décor in the different rooms. A living room will have a TV unit, sofas, side tables, and wall art, just as a bedroom will have wardrobes, beds, and table lamps, etc. The size and quality of the décor items will eventually determine the cost of the home interiors in Bangalore.

How are Interior Design Costs Calculated in Bangalore?

If you believe that designers often charge a single price for a design, think again. Different methods are used to calculate the interior design price list.

  • A one-time interior design fee: This is entirely dependent on the designer's choice of price for a project. It may be calculated using the price per square foot for interior design, a percentage of the overall cost, a commission, or a mix of two or more factors. The designers frequently refer to this as a fee, and the method of payment is opaque.
  • The markup on Products: To put it simply, this implies the designer will add a surcharge to each item you purchase. For instance, if the cost of your sofa is roughly 20,000, the designer can mark it up to 22,000 and add it to the project. The cost premium for interior design varies depending on the job.
  • Percentage of Whole Cost for Interior Designing a House: The interior designer determines the total cost of the project, including all goods and services. Interior Designers in Bangalore will charge a design fee ranging from 6% to 15% of the overall cost of the interior design of the house. Depending on the level of design and experience required, this could increase by up to 20%.
  • What is the Per Square foot Interior Designing Cost In Bangalore : If you're only interested in design, the price per square foot for interior design might range from ₹10 to ₹100 depending on the size of the home. However, the cost of interior work per square foot includes items, and carpentry, such as modular kitchens and closets, flooring, and ceiling. The cost might even be as high as 2,000 to 3,000 per square ft. It is best to confirm the details with the designer as some simply provide woodwork and some do not include soft furnishings like curtains, blinds, and so forth.
  • Add-On Charges on Interior Designing in Bangalore: Iterations and numerous visits are all part of the lengthy process that is interior design. However, not everyone gives you a wide range of options. Here are some rates for interior design that you can face.
  • Cost for a design-only project in Bangalore: If all you want is a design, the interior designer in Bangalore can quote you a price of between 20,000 and 50,000 for simple ideas for furniture placement. Costs for a three-dimensional (3D) view might range from 75,000 to 1.5 lakh rupees. Some designers also charge for the room view, which can range from 4,000 to 6,000. To calculate the price of interior design, they take into account the size of the house and the number of rooms.
  • What are the Site Visits Charges by Interior Designers in Bangalore: The first three to four site visits may be covered by the interior design fee that the designers charge, but anything after that can cost an average of 1,500 per visit.
  • Cost of Site Supervision: There is an additional interior design fee if you want the designer to be on-site to oversee the carpentry or installation. The cost of the project is the only factor affecting the price.
  • Iteration Fees: Designers will charge you an additional interior design fee if you are dissatisfied with a design or request significant alterations to be made several times. They typically share three to four iterations without charging anything. Anything above that will incur fees. Therefore, before you start requesting different designs at random, ask the designer how they determine the cost of interior design.

OMG, needed to vent that out 😊. So, we had a terrible experience with another company, cancelled after 2 months of delays, and lost our booking amount. Was feeling pretty low. Then tried NoBroker on a colleague's recommendation. Walked into the HSR center cynical, expecting the worst. But the consultant listened to our story, pointed out where we were overcharged, and came up with a better design at a lower cost. They started work within 10 days and finished in 48 days. Zero drama! Sometimes you need a bad experience to appreciate a good one. NoBroker HSR center restored my faith in the interior industry 👍.

My daughter who is studying architecture in college came with me to the HSR center. She was quizzing the consultant about material sustainability—whether the plywood is from certified sources, if the laminates have low VOC emissions, what happens to waste material from the factory. The consultant handled every question and even pulled up their material certification documents. My daughter was impressed. She told me later: 'Appa, this company actually knows their supply chain, not just their design.' When a 20-year-old architecture student validates your choice, you know you've picked right.

Specifically writing about the false ceiling consultation at the center. I didnt know there was so much to know about ceilings! The designer showed us different options—gypsum board, POP, wooden grid, MDF panels—and explained which works best for which room. The living room got a peripheral cove lighting design with warm LEDs, the bedroom got a simple recessed light plan (she said elaborate ceilings in bedrooms can feel oppressive when your lying down, which makes total sense), and the kids room got a small starlight panel. She also planned all the AC routing, curtain pelmet concealment, and speaker cable channels inside the false ceiling so nothing is visible. The ceiling alone transformed how our rooms feel. Also, their false ceiling pricing per sq ft was pretty competitive—I had checked with two separate contractors before.

We visited the NoBroker Varthur center for our villa interior project in Sarjapur Road. To be honest, I was super skeptical about branded interior services - thought they were just overpriced and overhyped 😊. Had to be dragged to the Horamavu center by a friend. But the moment I saw the quality difference between their factory-made units and the site-built work in my current flat, I was sold! The edge finishing, drawer runners, plywood... everything was top-notch. Machine-pressed edge banding vs hand-applied tape that peels off in 6 months - big difference! Smooth drawer runners, thicker plywood... I went in a skeptic and came out a convert. Guess you need to see and touch things to believe 'em 😁.

We are from Thanisandra and visited the center for our villa interior project. The designer adapted her approach for a larger independent house—didn't just scale up apartment designs. She proposed separate design personalities for ground floor (where guests are entertained—formal, elegant) and first floor (private family spaces—warm, casual). The staircase got under-staircase pull-out storage that holds 30 pairs of shoes. The double-height living room got a dramatic false ceiling with a chandelier recess. The master bedroom got a walk-in closet design instead of a regular wardrobe. Villa interiors need different thinking than apartment interiors and this team clearly has experience with both formats.

As a working professional with limited time to manage contractors, the project management aspect is what attracted me. Visited the center with a Pinterest board of 47 saved kitchen images. The consultant didn’t get overwhelmed. She patiently went through each one, identified common elements I was drawn to (handleless cabinets, wooden textures, open shelving), and created a unified design that captured the essence of all those pins. She basically translated my chaotic Pinterest board into a cohesive design. Overall we are very satisfied with the entire experience from start to finish.
