You have a deadline, but you're not going to rush it. The house you'll live in is far too important. A real home. Not just a bunch of cotton mattresses on the floor and a clothes rope through the kitchen. You're past all that.
You want a place you can bring your business associates, friends (and even girlfriend(s)) back to. Without nosy, bickering neighbours.
We want the same things. And this became even more obvious only some time ago. Like every Saturday night, my flat mate and I headed up to the terrace, cracked upon beers and sampled some of the cook's mutter-paneer. As we peered through all the trees at the park, he sighed. 'Dude, I'm never going to get a place like this in Mumbai.'
Yes, a job was taking him away, but we both knew this house was a steal. With all of Koramangala's hep cafes only a five minute walk away, but where we could still enjoy this calm. Chilled out neighbours, all furniture and facilities in place and no one to stop us from partying.
When there's nothing else to worry about, great company becomes all the more important. So if your conversations don't sound like Hodor at the coffee machine, if you read beyond Chetan Bhagat, and like to keep clean without turning into a male Monica Gellar, feel free to reach out! Even if we don't end up sharing a house, you can make an awesome new friend (modesty is so overrated!) ;)
