There are several factors which determine how a bill is made. While preparing the electricity bill the current month’s bill reading is subtracted from the previous month’s reading. The electricity bill is calculated after multiplying the unit consumed by the tariff rate. Bill made after reading the metre is called metered unit reading. At times, a metre can get affected due to some reason. If a metre gets defected for a month, the previous month’s metre reading cannot be found. During this type of circumstances, the electricity bill is fixed on the basis of the fixed unit or average unit. And this type of case is known as IDF or Informed defective. The IDF full form in electricity bill is ‘informed defective’.
