The easiest way to stop water wastage through a leaky tap is by switching off the main water supply. You will need to implement this step while you replace parts of the tap etc.

  1. Tap Regulator :

You can invest in a tap regulator to ensure there is no water wastage. Pick between fixed regulators and spray regulators. It will regularize the flow of the water and help you control the direction of water flow as well.

To stop water flow from a broken tap, find the reason behind it first. Sometimes a broken or loose ring causes the water to flow through the tap; sometimes the damaged or worn-out cartridges lead to it. So at first, try to locate the problem. But to stop the water leakage:

  • You will need to turn off the main water supply valve.

  • Next, look for the local shut-off valve, usually beneath or near the sink.

  • I would suggest you turn the local shut-off valve clockwise until tightly closed.

  • If no local valve exists, use the main shut-off valve for the entire property.

  • Once this is done, look at the fixtures and change it if needed

  • Turn on the main water supply again and check whether it is working or not
