• Create a comprehensive rental agreement with all the necessary details including the names and addresses of the landlord and tenant, details of the property, rent amount, duration of the agreement, and other terms and conditions.
• Pay the stamp duty for the rental agreement. The stamp duty amount varies from state to state and is based on the annual rent and the duration of the agreement. Many states now allow for online payment of stamp duty.
• Go to the official website of the Registration Department of your state or union territory. Look for the option to register rental agreements online. Some states have dedicated portals for this purpose.
• If required, create an account on the registration portal using your email ID and phone number.
• Fill in the details of the rental agreement in the online form provided. Upload the scanned copy of the agreement along with any other required documents. Pay the registration fees online. The registration fee is generally a nominal amount.
• Once the form is submitted and fees are paid, schedule an appointment with the Sub-Registrar's office for the verification of documents and final registration.
• On the scheduled date, visit the Sub-Registrar's office with the original documents for verification. Once verified, the rental agreement will be registered, and you will receive a digitally signed copy.
