Hey, Have you ever mixed two colours of oil paint together to form a new shade? When I was young, I used to do it all the time. I asked my art teacher how to make brown colour by mixing two colours. Here is what she told me.  How can we make brown colour by mixing two colours ?
  • If you take the color red and mix it with green you will get the color brown. Another way is mixing primary color (yellow) with secondary color (purple) to make brown.
  • You can also mix two complementary colors to make brown. Just take blue and orange paint and mix it together, I'm sure brown will be the end result.
  • If you want to know how to get brown colour by mixing two colours and getting a lighter shade just follow the step given below. Since brown is a tertiary color it is often difficult to mix.
  • If you add white to any of the mixtures given above. You will get light brown. eg. take red + green + white = light brown.

I think brown is my new favourite colour because it is subtle and elegant at the same time. Moreover, we can have so many options when it comes to brown and none of the options seem flashy or too much. As a painter, I can tell you which two colours make brown. How to make light brown colour by mixing two colours?

If you want to create a light brown colour, you will have to mix the three primary colours and then add some white colour to them. You can manage the amount of white on the basis of the lightness you want in the brown shade. One of the most popular light brown shades is the taupe shade which has a pinkish undertone. To make taupe, you need to follow the same steps but just add a little red and mix it little by little.

How to make dark brown colour by mixing two colours?

Just like to make a light brown shade we add white, to make a dark brown shade, we add black. You can adjust the quantity of black paint as per your requirement for the dark shade of brown.
