Finally, apply color-matched silicone caulk in corners and perimeter, and buff with a microfiber cloth once dry.

Before you install glass mosaic tile, you must ensure the substrate is smooth, level, and clean. Here is how to install glass mosaic tile:

  • Fix any imperfections to prepare the surface. 

  • When necessary, add expansion joints to stop movement or heat-induced cracking. 

  • Now, mix the thin-set mortar as per the manufacturer's recommendations and get the proper consistency. 

  • Using the flat side of the trowel to key it in, apply a thin, uniform coating of mortar to the wall. 

  • Next, comb it into uniform ridges using the notched side. 

  • Smooth the ridges with the trowel's flat side. 

  • The glass mosaic sheets should now be carefully placed onto the mortar. Press it evenly and firmly.

  • You must now guarantee uniform grout lines by using tile spacers in between the sheets. 

  • Using a beating block and mallet, gently tap the tiles. 

  • Now, clean any excess mortar that becomes trapped between the tiles right away with a spacer and a moist cloth. 

  • To cut around outlets, use a wet saw with a diamond blade made for glass tile. 

  • Apply a small, even layer of thin-set to the back of the tiles and put them in place.

  • Let the tiles sit for 15 to 30 minutes. 

  • Using a moist sponge, lightly moisten the paper backing. 

  • Carefully remove the paper when the adhesive has been loosened. 

  • Use a rubber float to apply the grout after the thin-set has completely dried. 

  • At a 45-degree angle, press it into the joints. Give it half an hour to set. 

  • You can now use a fresh, moist sponge to remove extra grout haze.

  • Put a bead of silicone caulk that matches the colour in the corners and around the perimeter.

  • Once dry, finally buff with a microfiber cloth.
