One easy thing that you can do to keep your couch clean, no matter what type or style of upholstery, is to vacuum it well once a week. A portable hand-held vacuum works well to gather up items like potato chip crumbs. However, if you need to get at the really yucky stuff, then you’ll have to use a vacuum with more suction. After that, just vacuum the sides, top, and bottom as well as cushions properly.

Once you are done vacuuming your couch, you can follow this process to clean your upholstery couch:

• Mix 1 teaspoon of dishwashing liquid per 1 gallon of warm water.

• Use a microfiber cloth or sponge dipped in this mixture and wrung it out. After that, just wipe your couch. I suggest you work in small areas at a time and prevent getting water on metal components such as frame legs, snaps, and buttons. This can cause rust stains that aren’t easy to remove.

• After that, use a fresh cloth or sponge dipped in water to wipe the surface. You can turn the fan on to speed up the drying process.
